there has to be a contrast between a romney recovery and obama stagnation, and frankly it's not right or left. it's common sense getting the country back to work, having an american energy policy. north dakota has 2.7% unemployment. the governor of north dakota has a billion-dollar rainy day fund and they've had three tax cuts in a row. now romney should be focusing on that kind of big choice, and it's not really right or left so much as it is common sense versus fuzzy ideas they don't work. >> schieffer: they've also discovered oil out there. but i'll ask you about that in a little bit. we'll be back in one minute with a little analysis of this. it's something you're born with. and inspires the things you choose to do. you do what you do... because it matters. at hp we don't just believe in the power of technology. we believe in the power of people when technology works for you. to dream. to create. to work. if you're going to do something. make it matter. >> schieffer: we're back now to talk more about the election and these upcoming debates can marsha blackburn, bob shrum who write

the reality is, romney's heart is in the right place. he's saying he's against too big to fail as any sensible person ought to be. the reality is, as long as those banks are that big they're too big to fail. and the only way that you're ever going to withdraw the moral hazard, government safety net from those banks is to break them up. so if you think mitt romney is going to do that then you and i have a disagreement. his heart's in the right place but he's never going to do that. >> jeff, thank you very much. we appreciate it. don staying for the rest of the show. >>> the center for disease control is trying to contain a killer disease from spreading in the u.s. details up next. >>> here's here's a number to remember. the public debt of the u.s. went up by more than 93 million where. that's up more than all the debt of the federal government between independence day 1776 and october 1942. think of it. we'll be right back. you. we know you. we know you have to rise early... and work late, with not enough sleep in between. how you sometim

romney very clearly pulls something from his right pocket and he pops it on to the podium in front of him. violation. violation. according to the conspiracy, complete with the grainy, slow mo youtube videos, this is mr. romney cheating. now he must have been working from note cards the entire debate. the explanation from the romney campaign is mr. romney was not pulling notes out of his pocket. he was pulling out of his pocket a handkerchief. sure enough, a little later on, oop, in the debate mr. romney is seen wiping his nose with said handkerchief. so whether you are persuaded by mitt romney wiping his nose on what is supposed to be his crib sheet notes, if you're on the left, again, like this is a conspiracy theory that just does not help. president obama did not win the first debate against mitt romney. whether or not you're happy about that, he didn't win. but if your takeaway from this conspiracy theory in this debate is the reason the president didn't win is because mitt romney cheated, then what is the utility of that theory for you? what is the utility of that information? ho
